American Beauty

That is so funny that it recommends American Beauty if you liked this movie, because it had reminded me of it the whole time I was watching. How it's a girl with rich parents and hates her father. And how the movie was kinda long and dragging on but an overall good movie. Just thought i'd say that.

Yes to American Beauty, no to the time-an hour and a half is too long?! Not even my students were bored.

If you watch the special features on the dvd, it says that they originally cast Thora Birch (from American Beauty) to play Dot. Two weeks before they were set to film, something happened.. and they had to recast.

OMG That's So Bizarre And Coincedental....And To The Other Person's Post... I Didn't Say The Movie Was Long. I Said It Felt Like It Was Cuz It Kinda Dragged On....

It had its slow moments, but it's not like you were expecting Die Hard.

Yea I didnt think about it until the end that it reminds me of American Beauty.

Some of the family house interior scenes reminded me very much of AB; the cold, almost sterile dark blues and greys complete with dysfunctional suburban family (with some completely messed up personal issues.)

Except Lester from American Beauty wasn't a sick son of a bitch who tried to rape his own daughter...

Mmm, I thought it was actually really well paced :). It definitely was a lot like American Beauty though, except with "Elisha Cuthbert" and "Camilla Belle", who were both absolutely stunning. Man, I'm shallow sometimes. Even the music and shot selection was very American Beauty. Either way, it was a great movie and kept me alert throughout, even with very little action.

"Brett! It's 1986 David Bowie from the movie Labyrinth."

"Yea... I know."

There's also Crime+Punishment in suburbia that is similar and was made before both.
