If you guys like this film, check out Ong Bak or Fearless.
If you guys are into action flicks, check out those asian movies. You will get more then what you have seen in District 13. I personally recommend Ong Bak or Fearless.

shareCan someone recommend some other similar over the top violent martial art type movie thingies as opposed to over the top violent gun shooting type movie thingies (John Woo movies already known and loved)(ive seen all three mentioned above)
shareHow about another Frenchie film. Brotherhood of the Wolf.
shareKung Fu Hustle
Grr. Arg.
Crows Zero and Crows Zero 2 by Takashi Miike are pretty dope.
share'Ong Bak' is overrated and Tony Jaa has no charisma at all either. If you want great martial arts films with tight choreography, you really can't beat the Hong Kong movies of Jackie Chan, Samo Hung, Donnie Yen and Jet Li. China are also really good at their epics, like the aforementioned 'Fearless'. To be honest, Donnie Yen is in top form at the moment. Most of his newer films are better than his older ones...
For a HK style American movie, check out 'Drive' with Mark Dacascos
Yamakasi is a good movie and so is the "sequel": les fils du vent. Both with some great parkour scenes
"Without passion you are already dead"
Ong Bak is NOT overrated. That guy can jump over cars for god's sake.
Love with your heart, use your brain for everything else.
Ong Bak is a really crappy movie IMO.
Banlieue 13, on the other hand, was great!

The problem with Ong Bak is, it's just a martial arts movie. Beyond the fighting scenes, it has absolutely nothing to offer. I might as well watch a few fighting clips on Youtube. I want something more, which I found in B13.
share
exactly.
and i hate how some people judge a whole movie by a few stunts, thinking nothing of the story it tells.
sorry to say this but usually young people do this to a fault. i hate to see the culture and tastes wane away, but it's happening.
district b13 is a great story and all the other adds to that, making it excellent.most cheap action films overemphasise the stunts to the detriment of the movie
drugs...changed...everything..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8MGBn3KawM&feature=related
im sorry but you do not know what your talking about.
for one they are not the same thing
B13 is a more of a Parkour movie than a hong kong style movie.
and Jaa is no where near as skilled as Bruce lee or Chan.
Jaa is a stunt man thats all.
his martial prowess is that of a stunt man
he knows only movie style martial arts. where in Bruce was an expert in reality based martial arts and Chan is an expert in traditional and movie martial arts.
being able to jump of a car is not impressive
and Jaa may be able to kick the ass of you're common thug but he is in no way a skilled martial artist
Fearless if good!! Tony Jaa... :)

The Protector
shareFlash Point is one of the best martial arts films I have ever seen. Donnie Yen is such a bad ass in that one.
shareFighter in the Wind" (2004) This movie is based on the true life story of Choi Yeong-eui (who later changed his name to Masutatsu Oyama), the founder of Kyokushin Karate.
Another martial arts film based on a true story is the Jean-Claude Van Damm film "Bloodsport" (1988) about the Kumite champion Frank Dux.
Check out The Ip Man flicks with Donnie Yen for sure.
Also Chocolate with Jeeja Yanin. Great action its up there with Ong Bak IMO.

Yikes... I tried Ip Man. It is like watching Mortal Kombat characters jump around...
It might be an ok movie if you like watching people fly, and zip across the room doing corkscrews and other video game moves...
