Thief: The Deadly Shadow

I have played the X-Box version of the game, in third person point of view. This is one of the best video games I have ever played. I also could seriously see this as an intriguing movie idea if done with care and cleverness. It would be impossible to go through each mission of the game, about 10 to 12, through a movie. Otherwise, it would be better as a miniseries. I know, It's a little redundant to make a movie out of a video game since many vg's are basically interactive movies. The GTA video game series, from GTA 3 and up are basically mixtures of different gangster movies and tv shows. If you can't see the influences of Scarface and Miami Vice in GTA: Vice City, then apparently you haven't seen or been privy to either. And I can't count how many Gangsta movies GTA: San Andreas, such as Boyz in the Hood, Menace II Society, Belly, and Training Day. And, I know so many trials of making movies from video games have been largely disappointing. A friend of mine argues that the Resident Evil series is a good series. If it is, it's definately an exception.

The neat thing about Thief is that you really do have to have concentration and all you sight and sound locked down. Playing this game in a loud party or with someone talking to you is difficult, yet there are certain missions in this game where having a companion in the room maybe helpful, since the gothic atmosphere in the game is pretty thick. The Cradle Mission and the Underground City Mission can give an one with an active imagination some goosepimples.

I have thought of many different directors suitable to direct a movie based on the Thief video game, and really two sprin to mind: David Fincher and Christopher Nolan. Either the guy who helmed the haunting, gruesome thrill Seven, or the guy in charge of a rather spine-tingling Batman installment and Memento. Then again, the Wachiawski Brothers are good candidates.

Well, I'm playing the game right now and I agree with you. I would love to see a serie made out of this, because there is so much to tell about the Hamerites and the Pagans. Maybe Jean-Pierre Jeunet would be suitable. Or the Coen brothers, in style of their dark films (Barton Fink and Miller's Crossing).

I have the Thief 3 game sitting next to me at this moment, and i want to install it bad, but there are 2 problems, One: I have the wrong graphics card for it :( and Two: i want to know if the game is worth updating my graphics card for.

Please tell me if it is worth it or not.

Yeah, a series might be best. Because each heist needs to be drawn out because that's action, that's part of the suspense: seeing how Garrett figures out the mission.
