Jon Stewart is a prodominantly sit down comic...the best around today...as good as Letterman in the glory days at NBC and early CBS
Lewis Black is a stand-up comic...the new Geroge Carlin in my opinion...just as funny with twice the maniacal rage!
They are both the best at what they do and shouldn't be compared.

Enjoy the political tirades of Lewis Black, check out David Cross and his cds Shut Up You *beep* Baby, and It's Not Funny. He doesn't have Black's 'charisma' for a lack of a better word, but S.U.Y.F.B, is two hours of the funniest stand up I have ever heard!
shareThe one man that actually is funnier than Lewis Black is George Carlin, the sensei. Carlin spawned the angry, social commentary, comedic style since picked up by Black, Bill Hicks, and in part Doug Stanhope and Dennis Miller and many others.
May there be mercy on man and machine for their sins
George Carlin is funnier than black from Lewis' performance on his HBO special. I've seen George in person several times and many of his specials and I just about crapped myself laughing. He's a much better comedian in my opinion.
Redd Foxx is a helluva lot funnier than Lewis Black and he's even dirtier than George Carlin sometimes. Look no further than the 6-cd set of "Redd Foxx: Live and Funny" (recorded in an L.A. night club).
The list could go on and on. Unless the question was, "Who is the one man funnier than Lewis Black, who has only been in the big scene of comedy in the last 6 years?"
Lewis Black was always consistently funny on the Daily Show. This HBO special had some pretty funny moments, but I don't know if it was him at his best.
Dying of colon cancer would be "funnier" than listening to any of Black's misinformed temper tantrums.
