who's karl?

i'm sorry but that damn t-shirt annoyed me for the entire damn movie...lol.

and did you notice how the shirt kept getting shorter and shorter as the movie went on???

reply

her shirt getting shorter = night thickness...

OMG, I know you wrote this a long time ago, but that is exactly what I was thinking! Throughout the movie, I kept thinking, wasn't the t-shirt longer in the last scene. Then the next scene would have them run through another tunnel, and it would be even shorter. I was waiting for her to be topless in the last scene (well, technically, she was, but they were already back in their trailer or wherever. LOL)...

I too, however, was as annoyed as the OP about the darn Karl on the t-shirt thing. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR LOL

I am actually kind of sad that I have to straighten this out because I started watching the movie about 45 min in and actually skipped back on my DVR (it was on that channel for the whole movie, I just wasn't watching) and I noticed this "flaw" in reverse. I saw the short shirt first and realized it was longer in the beginning. I am just as happy to point this kind of inconsistency out as the next guy, but the movie actually didn't screw this up (tons of other stuff, but not this).
After the one girl gets cut in half and the kid they didn't know gets his "fingers" chopped off, there is a scene (no discussion, you just have to see it (where the Karl t-shirt girl comes running up to him with her shirt short for the first time and she is holding the rest of the material in her hands and they wrap his stumps with it. And there really are only 2 lengths to the shirt in the movie. Regular and cut off.
I am not saying it's not stupid.

Just a total wild guess here but could the name on the t-shirt be her fathers ? It does look like a 1970's-80's styled T that could have been worn back in the day . I know I didn't catch her fathers name in the beginning of this movie ( perhaps it was never mentioned ? ) . Like I said just a guess here always wondered myself lol . Thanks ButterflyAlias for your subject post .

Just a guess, but it's probably a Karl Lagerfeld t-shirt.

reply

I just looked up some Karl Lagerfeld t-shirts and his profile on Wikipedia too ( the " karl who ? " t shirt really cracked me up lol ) . It's quite possible jsusna72 that makes a whole lot of sense . I surprisingly never heard of this fashion designer but if this was true it's a really good plug for his products lol . I will have to check the end credits on this movie out again next time I watch it to see if by chance his name shows up there .

reply

Yes, I checked out his site as well to see if that particular shirt showed up, but of course it didn't as it was probably no longer available. I supposed that when the movie was made it was all the rage. Kind of like one day in the future we'll see T-shirts with other designer names on them that will date them: Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, etc. I can just see a thread subject now: "Who is Tommy Hilfiger?" Ha-ha.

reply

LOL Good one jsusna72 ! Or is it like some people I know who say it wrong " Tommy Hil-finger " lol . Now if someone asks - " Who is Calvin Klein ? " we are really in trouble lol .

What's really ridiculous about so-called "designer" T-shirts is that there is absolutely no "designing" that I can tell at all. It's like someone says, "Hey, let's buy some generic T-shirts and put your name on them. We can sell them for 5 times what we paid." Brilliant!
