I'm noticing something....

about Disney lately. They don't seem to like normal looking people having romantic relationships with weird looking people. For example.

In Halloweentown 1 and 2, Marnie kisses Luke on the nose in 1, in 2, there seem to be alot of romantic undertones to the two. And theen.. In Halloweentown High, he dissapears forever, never to be mentioned again. IF Marnie was bringing a bunch of students to highschool in the mortal world, why couldn't Luke have come with them?

Also in Halloweentown High, Dylan is THIS close to getting a perfectly wonderful girlfriend in the Troll girl(can't remember her name, drat.), and yet, they think it is, too gross, to kiss each other.

What is it with Disney and having issues with relationships that are weird? This has always annoyed me in movies, cartoons, and other things but now i'm really curious as to why.

its not that they dont like wierd relationships, what happens that luke disappears is that he probably cant or doesnt want to be in the movie, and they dont let the troll and dylan kiss beacause it makes it funny that the troll think dylan is wierd looking when she is the big pink thing. No offense you should look into things more before accusing disney of things.

On the one hand I don't really believe anyone at Disney is saying, "Let's make sure we don't give the impression that dating out of one's own species is a good idea."

On the other hand, I see what dclary25 is getting at, too. I think it would have been really cool if Dylan and Natalie had decided to see each other. I mean, they both agreed that their initial misgivings about the other's "race" had been wrong, so why not their initial opinions on the other's appearance? It gives the impression that the story is saying "stick with your type", even if it isn't trying to. I think Dylan and/or Natalie could have come to the realization that their initial "disgust" might have been because the other was new and strange. Now, that they know each other, that isn't as important, and they might be able to date...they don't even have to kiss immediately (though it probably better come soon!). ;-)

Please don't get offended...this is just my opinion.

"Please don't get offended...this is just my opinion" im not sure who you were saying that too, but if it was me you were telling, then dont worry, i wasnt offended, why would i be.I think maybe the message they were trying to send out is that it is ok to be just friends with someone.

lol. Speaking Partially on Partially off topic Ever since I first saw Ethan in this movie I thought him and Marnie(KJB) would make a really cute couple but then Sara Paxton who is obviously a great actress, took over the role and I just don't see the chemistry.

I can't even watch Darcy's Wild Life because I watched Summerland( one of my favorite shows) first and in that she was this rebel runaway chick and it was hard to picture her as a goody 2 shoes from Malibu. So, watching her as a witch is going to be pretty hard. I haven't seen the fourth movie yet. I live in Canada and it premieres on Friday here. xD

I'm not saying I don't like the suggested pairings in the series, it just seemed to me that Disney keeps doing these weird things with pairings. In one movie they'll suggest one pairing with a character, and then the sequel will have left one character behind and brought in another one.

I mean, I know i'm not the only one who really wanted Luke and Marnie to hook up together, and it would have been cute to put Dylan and Natalie together. I mean, they both say: 'I can't, it's too gross' about kissing one another. I just don't see why Disneychannel can't put a few weird-o couples into their movies. :P

You might be on to something...think about it.

The Little Mermaid? She becomes an attractive human, so it's okay.

Beauty and the Beast? He becomes an attractive human, so it's okay.

Shrek? She becomes a troll...just like him...so it's okay.

I'm just saying!

Agreed.

I am a proud part of the Crestwood Fluteline 2006 season.

I think with Dylan and Natalie it was because they weren't used to the idea and it made it gross....maybe after a few years in Halloweentown at Witch U he will warm up to the idea of dating something other than human (especially since the dominion isn't ruling and isn't able to split the other creatures from the witches/warlocks like they wanted)

From reading I think the first one is simply not having the actor available, although they could have given her a different monster love interest.

I agree with you about Dylan, I was bummed out that they just decided to remain friends. It seemed they were perfect for each other. Would also be interesting to see in the future of half Troll witches and Warlocks.

The pairing of human and monster seemed to work well in Hotel Transylvania. Mavis did look mostly human but had the fangs and changed into a Bat. With the Troll I thought she was adorable and not scary so I could see Dylan accepting her looks because of who she was on the inside.
