To beat the game all you have to do is open the briefcase and push the power button and you win. Wow he could have done that in the first 5-10min.

Actually the game wasn't so much about that goal. Everything was designed so that he wasn't playing the 'game' as much as he was battling the AI that ran it. All the other stuff was distraction, to keep him from leaving the game. That's why all the Blue Mountain stuff was thrown in, as well as Kate and his friend. As soon as he recognized that the entire story was just to keep him from the simplest task, he was able to win. I thought that was an intriguing way to go with it.
The less a man makes declarative statements the less apt he is to look foolish in retrospect.
He could have also not played the game and saved even more time. Though, I do agree that was kind of an easy way to win the game. Luckily for us it took him 80+ minutes to figure it out and there was a movie.
