...Films with similar style?

well... as mentioned many times, amelie, of course. if you stretch a bit more, try kamikaze girls, last life in the universe, the shoe fairy, the taste of tea, & mystery train but they don't have as much whimsy and beauty... just flashes of similar imagery. well, shoe fairy is definately whimsical, even closer to amelie at that. tokyo godfathers might possibly the best recommendation even if it's story is darker. it definately has a distinctly japanese urban style and warm touching moments. yeah... that, and amelie are the closest matches i know of.

another step away to the east... the accidental tourist, the fisher king, eagle vs. shark, welcome to the dollhouse, whale rider, harold and maude, benny and joon, L.A. story, the world according to garp, the science of sleep, the station agent, ghost world, & wasabi bear comparison too.

hope you find something in these that give you a similar warm rush. it's a hard film to match in the way it sneaks up on you and pulls you in so completely. most of these recommendations are just ballpark.
