The Mud Man

I didn't really get that part. He dug him self up from the dirt and then he started crying and apologizing. Who was he? Has he appeared before in the film? How did he end up burried and why? Was the explanation meant to stay open and did it have any significance to other parts of the story?

reply

Yeah he appeared before that scene. He was the guy who attacked those two at the train station.

I don't remember what he exactly did or if the film showed it or not but I think he angered yakuza for some reason. I need to watch that again...

Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.

He attacked the guys in the manga suits, then the Yakuza took him off and buried him with a straw or bamboo in his mouth. The same guys who he attacked were the ones who dug him up. Hence the apologising.

I think it also mirrors the story that the Uncle told, or perhaps even lied about which involved a buried Yakuza. Perhaps this same sort of torture occurred to the "crapped on" Yakuza.

reply

Yeah that's what I thought. The skull must have been of someone buried in the same way.

reply

I think the dead Yakuza was buried there after being shot, he had bullet holes in him.

reply

It wasn't the same guys who dug him up that buried him, it was the 2 kids wearing the suit.

I think it was really supposed to be kinda miraculous that he survives and also mirrors the uncle's story

"Death, you are my bitch lover!"
