Mine is, for the moment, the Sarracens, man, those guys kick some serious ass for sure, though I must say again FOR THE MOMENT, because in my opinion all the civilizations can kick some serious ass or be crappy *beep* depending on how y' use 'em.

Byzantium. They rock. Their castles are superstrong and cataphracts with trample damage are devastating.
shareMan you gotta love the Spanish....those conquistadors beat ass!!! But like the first poster said...there all good, it all depends who your fighting, for example...the Goths may suck against the Byzantines but put the Goths vs. the Mongols and you got yourself a carnage!!
shareWell, I love range and speed, so the Mongols. They also have fast siege so your madg don't have to wait forever to go anywhere. But I love all of them, it does mostly depend on who you are against. I don't want to be the Goths fighting the Teutons, if you know what I mean.

I usually just put it on random, but when I'm feeling saucy, I like being the Franks... I usually kill off every unit I have and max out my population with nothing but Throwing Axemen... I'm unstoppable...
But LIke I said, I like just putting it on Random and playing as whatever it brings up. That really helps you learn the specifics of each civilization and how to kick serious butt with whoever you're playing as.
But you gotta love them Franks...

i rule with these civs every game of age my friends and i have had LAN parties with the AOE series and i usually have high score and on the winning team with these civs. the others i love but i seem not to score as high or not be on the winning team as much. I must say tho it is one hell of a fun game when you got 4-8 players playing a lan party with any age game. It was fun against the cpu but when you totally dominate on the hardest setting like your playing an amateur or a 5 year old it gets old so i reccommend playing people online or lan style much more competive

I love mongrels because they kick ass and vikings cos they dont take crap from anyone!
Vikings are easily my favorite. Berserker power and regeneration are awesome.
I liked using the Britons once, with a horde of Longbowmen and 4-5 Trebuches, it was nearly un-stoppable.... nearly.... I am also a fan of the Teutonic Knight.
My favorite civilization to be is the Teutons, closely followed by the Saracens. The Teutons have paladins and teutonic knights - a great combination. Free murder holes technology is useful too.

If you play with the Britons and you buy all archer upgrades, you can fire arrows from one corner of the screen to the other.
The Japanese are good as well, and since I usually concentrate on archers and infantry I like to play as the Aztecs too.

"Santiago!!! WEEEE!!!!" Spanish all the way! They are the most balanced and have the most technology. They got monk power, gunpowder, navy, Cavalry, villager soldiers, money making and they speak spanish. Teutons? convert them, Longbowman? shoot them, Samurais? ambush with villagers, Turtle ship? sink it with Cannon galleons.

Celts and Teutons are best, on a team they are invincible.
Huns. I hate, hate, HATE making houses and so they are the best for me.
I use to use the Celts a lot and I love the Archers in the game so sometime I use the Chinese. But usually I use the Huns and then align myself with Chinese.

The Byzantines: I'm a big fan of Ancient Rome so it's obvious I would like the Byzantines.
The Turks: Like jedijames-1 I really liked the Turks with their Janissaries and cannons.
The Celts: I just liked the Woad warriors. Plus I always wished that Ensemble Studios would have put the Celts in the original AOE.
Britons: I'd just spawn lots and lots of longbowmen and then just mow down their infantry.
In the Expansion Pack I liked the Spanish and the Aztecs.
Woah, I can't believe it's been a DECADE since this game was released. Has it really been that long? It's still a classic. I was playing it again around this time last year.
