Annoying + Pretentious

I don't know about you but after watching three episodes- I feel like smackin' these people upside their heads. Here the reason why: they are successful actors playing struggling actors in a George Clooney directed show. Poor actors. And Krista and Bryan are darn annoying. Only the younger actress comes across as having any real talent or emotion.

Ditto. It's one thing to watch the IT Factor with REAL struggling actors, but this is garbage.

I agree with everything you said except the part about the young actress. I think she sucks too. Man they are in desperate need of a new cast. And a new editor. And new writers. Actually, wouldn't it be easier for them to just start over?

An actors definition of success is pretty much anybody who gets work. Even if it is occassionally. Becoming well-known would fall more in the category of "making it".

Consider yourself lucky that you are seeing Krista Allen from a fresh perspective. Until the past few years she made a pretty good living in the soft-core porn industry. IMO she is the only one worth watching, and even then only when she is just playing herself. Every scene that they've had where she's had to act...well I hate to say it but she just isn't that good. She can and will get better, I believe. They all will. I just don't have the patience to keep watching and waiting. And yet oddly enough, I care enough to be on this message board.

They're not successful, but George Clooney knew them nonetheless, as they were very small parts and/or extras on some of the projects he's worked on (a.k.a. Krista Allen in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind).

I don't think the problem is with the show, but us viewers becoming de-sensitized. I'm really enjoying it thus far though. It's a wonderful, fictitious show that serves well to entertain and really gives you a good glimpse at the world of Hollywood.

Not to mention that it's funny as hell. I haven't noticed them to be bad actors because the entire show has them acting. So I don't know if they suck at acting or if they are great at pretending to suck at acting. They aren't really playing themselves just because they're using their real names.

I think that the different levels of success is what this show is all about. I wouldn't consider just getting a few gigs here and there and having to work other jobs being a success. For just about any profession it is being able to make your living at it. I like how they juxtapose people at these different levels. Hank Azaria probably makes more than anyone. Yet how hard is it for him to be in a successful show besides the Simpsons? Isn't that enough? Similarly, Krista Allen can make 150k for posing for a Playboy cover but doesn't want to do it. Jennifer gets a starring role on Legally Blonde which is instantly cancelled. Is that success? Diane Baker was like a blast from the past. She had her moment in the sun and still gets parts here and there. Says she's been a producer behind the scenes. Definitely has had a successful career yet who even knows her name? I was like, "Oh yeah, I remember having a crush on her along time ago." Using the old tap dancer as a metaphor for the entertainer's life was a cliche´ but still effective.
