I only have an answer to question #3. The movie is called "The Twelve Chairs".
It is a Mel Brooks film released in 1970....extremely funny :-) Hope that helps:-)
If you are wondering whether Frank Langella was playing a character based on himself, I doubt it. If you look at the episodes cast, he was one of the few actors in the series who is playing a character. Practically everyone else was playing 'himself' or 'herself'.
