Great 'mint julips' quote

Nowhere can I find the name of the commentators (not listed on PBS. Although what is listed is the star-studded cast of voices which includes Alan Rickman and of course Samuel L. Jackson.), nor the text of this fabulous quote from Stanley Crouch. It talks about the strange phenomenon of how a people who were enslaved for hundreds of years and forced to work were called lazy, and not those who were sitting on the porch and drinking the mint julips.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I'm watching it on the Tivo right now and Stanley Crouch's brilliant observation is as follows:

'What a boxer ideally wants to do in the ring is turn the opponant into an assistant in his own ass-whipping. That's really what you want the other guy to do: to assist you in whipping his ass.'

Hilarious.

some of the voices not credited on imdb include Billy Bob Thornton, Ed Harris, Amy Madigan, Eli Wallach, Studs Terkel.

best quote that Stanley Crouch gives was the one on when someone asked Johnson what was it about black guys that attracted white woman, and Johnson said,
"We eat cold eels and think distant thoughts"

Another quick transcript of Stanley Crouch's comments as heard on my Tivo:

' For a group of people to be enslaved for hundreds of years doing manual labor every day and end up being called lazy and not the people sitting on the porch drinking the mint juleps -- that's a real phenomenon in itself. '

Excellent quote.

Thank you gravyshanks, that last one is the quote I was looking for. (If only Tivo didn't require a land line, I would have it. I lust after it!)
