How on earth does a man with only 1 arm and his surgical career on the line scrub in? Will he just be there as an observer? Surely he can not be allowed to operate with one functioning arm...
Ok ok so they expect his arm/hand to make a full recovery too? Sorry. I must have missed that part of the episode. It did keep cutting out the signal while I was watching it. I know I missed a few things.
His hand isn't injured, but even if it was, didn't they miraculously cure Derek's hand injury, after the plane crash? They'll just do the same for Deluca, too.
He's healing - he's not an invalid. Of course he can still scrub in to observe a surgery.
------------------------ "How do you know this?" "That's what I do... I drink, and I know things."
Derek's hand was not miraculously get cured. He went through a number of surgeries, had to get part of his sisters leg taken for grafts. He had physical therapy. I'd say it was at least 6 months before he could do surgery again
He was just observing, but the other factor he was wearing a cast and those things get nasty. No way you let someone in the OR with that unsanitary thing anywhere near the patient.
I was wondering how he would even scrub his hands if one was unmovable in a sling. I was also thinking of all his bloody looking wounds. I didn't think it looked very sanitary. Why would he scrub in vs. just watching from the observation deck.
It actually means the same thing. You have to be completely sanitary when you go into an OR even if you do not touch or go near any patient. Beings that his arm is resting in a non-sanitary sling. I would not allow him into an OR. He should watch from the upstairs observation deck.
