Probably Won't Last

The critics seem to love it, and recently that has been bad news for new shows. The average viewing audience seems to be too idiotic to recognize what's good and what isn't; so prepare to watch this show fade into obscurity like all the other good shows of late....

To tell you the truth I would like to see this show continue; it's an good show. But also I wouldn't be too upset if it went because I have over 10 shows to watch this Fall and I probably couldn't fit it in, unless it stayed in the time slot it is in now.

The ABC line-up for this Fall doesn't have "The Days" on it, so I don't think the show is going to continue much further.

Lentini where on earth do you get the part about america not liking friends, etc, and bush? Bush? where on earth did that come from. Don't even TRY to lump together TV shows and a political figure. Comparing a TV show that you may not like is not the same as a president who has let the most powerful country down. So don't even get me started on that.

Granted some of the situations presented in this TV show are rehashed ideas, while you were creating your list of reasons to hate the show you obviously missed the whole scene between natalie and her jock boyfriend. Asking him why they are together, and his reply, that because they are both hot and both jocks. Atleast The Days has some other view point on the typical high school experience, mocking the preppies, or "jocks", showing how shallow people really are.

In response to lemurian's post; sure the hollywood blockbuster machine produces a lot of garbage for the teen demographic scene, but it does the same for upper demographics as well. While I agree hollywood produces a lot of garbage, don't deny the power the teen scene has. Companies are now realizing how much money the teen group has, and they are tapping into that now. You missed the point of Cooper, that some goth, weird kid is actually the most normal, intelligent kid of the group who actually keeps the family together. His dad uses him to vent, he watches over his younger brother, and he protects his sisters reputation, not to mention becomes a friend to her. While the older sister was the popular one, her reputation is in the tank and she only now begins to realize the error of her ways and her oblivious actions to who she hung out with and how fake they really are. True the youngest boy is very smart, but have you met any very smart people? Plunty of them turn out to be very strange. A kid I knew who was extremely smart through elementary and middle school ended up in a mental institute. Although another extreme case, but you ever see the movie A beautiful mind? Extremely intelligent person, but way out there.

Your complaint of non-caucasion influence is not justified. The love interests of two of the characters is not caucasion, and furthermore, this show is ABOUT a caucasion family. If you haven't noticed, this country is still very caucasion, and if you have a problem with that, you can go watch your Method and Red or whatever that garbage is called on Fox. I'm sick of policital correctness this country has turned to worrying about. It's out of control. The reason why this show is spinning so fast and furious is due to its only 6 episode run, not to mention its very hard for a show to last any mount of time, so they cram as much stuff into a show to try to pick up any viewers possible. So either enjoy the show or click the channel!

I'm seriously hoping you were not referring to the viewing audience as teenagers and then calling us idiotic....granted I am 14 and I do realize that most kids my age do not understand what it takes to make a show great and they dont have enough experience to form their own opinions about real talent (i.e. the Hilary and Lindsey fad) but some of us do...this show was the horrible, cheese, dramatic show that you just love to hate....no matter how much you want to make fun of it and despise it your drawn in and ending up hooked...or at least I was :). Cooper was probably what convinced me to keep watching, I think he's great in his role and that he has a good acting future ahead of him.

What, is it wrong to label the general teen demographic as "idiotic"? Is this not the very same section of society that such films as "You Got Served" were genetically engineered for? The unoriginality of this show drips off it like so much Michael Jackson facial cream. In the FIRST episode this wonderbread family has to deal with a son who's a depressed "stoner" who listens to "adverse" music, an intelligent child who would be all but perfect if it weren't for his bouts of panic and prepubescent urges, and a girl who gets "knocked up" and impregnated by her popular yet shallow boyfriend. Whoa, they've literally tried to cram every familial sterotype into one amalgam cliche that threatens to explode if it is further fed. No, this is just another unoriginal, boringly overdone and melodramatic excuse for entertainment almost completely bereft of any significant non-Caucasian influence.

Um... This is a "summer series" that has only made six episodes. It's not intended to be on in the fall, no matter if it does well or tanks. I'm surprised people didn't realize this, since it's been mentioned in the commercials too.

As long as Evan Peters keeps playing Cooper, I've got a reason to keep watching. And so will alot of other girls. And just for the record I love this show, and i think it will last. America can't be so idiotic not to see The Days for a good show. Then again america loved 7th heaven, friends and elected Bush president...

reply

Why is it so bad for America to like 7th Heaven, Friends, and Bush? Although I have never watched Friends in my entire life, I didn't go so far as to say that the show is a bad show. Just because it is not your style or taste, don't assume that they are bad shows or a bad president.
And I really don't like when girls only watch a show because one of the characters is "hot". So you're saying that The Days is a good show, but only if Evan Peters plays Cooper? The show will be bad if another kid plays Cooper? That seems a bit shallow to me. But, then again, I am an idiotic American, aren't I?
