subtitles

what was the deal with the subtitles. i watched it on instant netflix, does it just come that way, with the subtitles on all versions. i liked it cause it made some of the unclear things understandable, but i thought they took away from the impact of the vulgar lines, because you know what they are about to say...anyone else agree. or can you watch it without those subtitles? i would have prefered it without them i think...would have made it funnier at least.
