slightly positive

on a scale of negative > neutral > positive, id give this movie a slightly positive rating. i went in with low expectations (aftering hearing some poor reviews), so maybe my judgement is somewhat skewed. let's put it this way: it was better than expected.

my impression is that if youre a fan of donal logue's somewhat dry and very observational humor, then you may enjoy it. i see it's style as similiar to, but not as provocative as, "the tao of steve." there are fewer forthright comedic scenes, but the overtone and much of the screenwriting is very amusing (some of the "jokes" are a bit subdued, but definitely there). kirk fox's relatable character really steals the screen, and, i think, ties the whole movie together well... just as a rug would in a room. his lines are some of the best. and despite it's [**SPOILER**] "happy ending," its done well and is not completely trite.

id say that if you see it on the blockbuster wall or on tv, give it a chance. i wouldnt say make it a priority viewing, but it is worthwhile.
