Tobey disco dancing is the most embarrassingly bad thing I have seen

in any movie.

It is horrendous. I see some people, raimi lovers, cheese lovers, are trying to rewrite history with this film and claim that its not as bad as people make it out to be. Its actually worse.

Watching a beloved character reduced to some 'edgy' mongoloid, disco dancing down the street...what were they even thinking? Its a huge stain on the character of Spider-Man. Many people have said there was a fatigue for the character of Spidey due to having a reboot complete with origin within five years of S3...id say a lot of fatigue set in when we had to put up with literally the cheesiest interpretation of Peter Parker yet, prancing about and acting like a total dick head.

Tobey Maguire actually wore eyeliner in this movie. Eyeliner. And what about that floppy fringe??

MJ moaning again. whining constantly, on an on with the whinging.

Venom, an embarrassment.

Sandman, bens killer.

An amnesia storyline....jesus

The remembering butler.

Gwen as a throwaway character.

An absolutely disgraceful movie.

I feel like this one is so bad it brings down the other two

What's worse is that Spiderman 3 only amplified the cheesiness of the Peter's character from the previous 2 movies. Look at Spiderman 2, we have Peter bumbling his way in a closet, the rain drops montage, dropping his papers and getting hit in the head with the bookbags.

Mary Jane is a terrible character in all 3 movies, she just gets progressively more unlikable as the series goes on.

reply

It really does. They took this whole cornball attitude of Peters way way too far and it reflects badly on his previous antics, I definitely agree.

Some parts were ok,the rest was terrible. In the end of Spider Man 2 after all the epicness we experienced, you see MJ not a b**** anymore and goes to confess love for Peter, then you see Peter fly out the window and you're thinking "AWWW YEA HE GOTS THE GIRL AND NOW HE'S GONNA SAVE THE DAY BECAUSE HE'S *beep* SPIDER MAN"

Then Spider Man 3 happened and 5 years later a reboot came. We know it worked out for the best with Spidey in the MCU.

Boo frickety hoo. Copernius called and your tastes are not the center of the universe. Fanboy whining alert.

Just talking about the DANCING here, but I DIE laughing everytime that whole scene is on...his "strut", his finger shooting at the ladies, and the toping on the cake is his disco dance when he comes out of the suit store! OMG! It was on Encore the other day & I crack up all over again.

You can argue it doesn't belong in a SM movie (and you may be absolutely right), but doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the sillyness of the scene.

Im gonna punch you in the cooter, I swear to God!

reply

Silly? Yes. Embarrassing? Not even close.

You're just overthinking it. Keep in mind that Petey's still a nerdy kid. Since when do nerds look cool and have rhythm. The dancing was supposed to have some silliness to it, because he's still Peter Parker. The finger pointing and the bebopping down the street, that was part of the 'fish out of water' element of it.

Imagine the nerdiest guy you know, and imagine him trying to 'act cool' tomorrow in a fancy black tux. Just picture it in your head for a second. Odds are he'll look silly, right? That's why he was getting those odd stares from people, like, 'dude must be on something'.

But, it's all good. He was feeling himself and showed his emotion. Didn't bother me a bit.

When we're thinking about our own brain, would that be a mental paradox??

Exactly. The black suit gave him confidence and a sort of animal magnetism, which is why women were responding to him despite the cheesefest. But he's still Peter Parker, and no amount of confidence or the other qualities that suit enhanced can make him cool. He was feeling good, he felt like letting it all hang out! And him getting his funk on resulted in...what we ended up witnessing lol

reply

That's the funniest part of the movie. Makes it worth watching.

the twist dance was worst

I agree and I also think Tobey Maguire has no dignity for doing those stupid dance scenes. If I were him I'd have torn the script into tiny little pieces in front of Raimi when I got to all those emo Parker dance scenes.

Green Goblin is great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1L4ZuaVvaw

So what is your opinion on these dance scenes?:

Not the fact: Unlike Spider-Man, Tony Stark from the comics was never portrayed as a goofy character that can allow himself to act like a naive kid. In the comics, Stark had I-TAKE-NO-SHІT attitude and was very serious. (Heck, he was on the verge of suicide at one point in his life.) However, I don't see a lot of people having problem with that, despite the fact that Tony Stark's dance off scene is way more out of character.
