Why does almost everyone hate this movie so much?

It is my least favorite of the trilogy. I thought it was sort of depressing. But I don't hate it so bad like a lot of you others. Can someone tell me why most people hate this to death?

I think after the brilliant 'Spider-Man 2' people expectations were so damn high and most people ended up being disappointed. 'Spider-Man 3' is my least favourite too. It's a good film but not as good as the first 2 instalments.

One of the reasons why I think some people hated this film so much is becuase it had many subplots which made the film sort of messy.

A cluttered story and a few cringe-worthy scenes mainly. Personally, I don't think the film is all that bad, but its definitely very flawed.

Too many sub plots, weak writing, and that stupid dance scene killed it for me.

You wait three films to finally have Venom introduced and he gets about five minutes on screen. Gargantuan letdown.

People like to whine and complain when things don't turn out the way they expected that they gloss over the really good things. Spider-Man 3 was overall a decent film and is the last good Spider-Man film in retrospect.

I liked this movie when I first saw it. And I have never rewatched it, so it remains pure for me. All complaints I've heard sound like nitpicking.

Mary Jane is the biggest reason for me. They focused way too much on their relationship and it made it more into some sappy hallmark romance movie. The emo dance scene was also horrendous. Acting was also, overall, quite poor. I feel like the villains were handled very poorly as well. I don't think there is necessarily a problem with having 3 villains, but if you have 3 villains, they need to be treated less like a separate subplot and more of a cohesive part of the story. Sandman just never seemed like he was important to the story. If you delete him from the movie entirely, you would still have the same movie. I appreciate the message of not seeking revenge, but everything in this movie was just so poorly handled. That's why it is my least favorite. I actually liked amazing Spider-Man 1 &2

I had no expectations and no real "love" for the first two. This one, though, was just one lame or badly-thought-out idea after another. Some very dumb scenes, too. For example, the guy who became Sandman literally just wandered near a pit in the middle of nowhere at night, and fell in, at the exact time that some molecular experiment was beginning right inside that pit. WHAT?

Very lazy movie, terrible writing, terrible concepts, overdone drama, embarrassing to watch.
