Couple of questions (SPOILER)

Sorry but I dropped the ball with this one. I may remember things wrong so please correct me.

-If Puritan was the burnt guy all along why were his warnings to himself so cryptic? All that stuff about avoiding the woman, she's setting you up. So far as I can remember the only reason he got burned was cus that gardener shot a gas tank. Why not be more specific in his warnings.

-Did she really plan the murder of her husband?

-When Ann made her appointment to see puritan (her first reading) why did she do it under the name Grey when she was still Bridges?

-If Puritan is the burnt man all along why is Pete Hodge credited with playing him?

I think I must have missed a fundamental element to have all these questions! Liked the movie though.

The movie was one big plot hole. The burnt man's warnings were cryptic only for the sake of the narrative. Kind of fun though, and i liked the twist, even though it made absolutely zero sense.

reply

No you're right. It doesn't make any proper sense.
The plot is just naff.
and very sloooooooooooow.

Yeah,just seen it.
Bloody stupid film.I was expecting it to be quite good:(
4.5 outa 10

I think the makers tried to be too clever but it all ended up a cross between Quantum leap,Doctor who and the Elephant man.
I thought the two coppers who came to his house were very good though, best bit of the film imo.

Speaking of bleedin' plot holes...did I also miss something? Not only were his warnings to himself 'cryptic', but did he also not set himself up including setting himself up to get into the very situation that caused his own disfigurement by fire? WTF is that all about? Is he a super masochist too? Sorry, but though the actors were great, the plot freakin' sucked in my opinion.

He needed to get burnt to cure his cancer.....he had a brain tumor that vanished after the burning....so he set himself up to save his own life...

reply

Okay, I can buy that, it's about the only reason I can think of as to why he would be so vague although it's still leaving a few HUGE plot holes...except check note 3.

Problems.

1. When he saw himself about to jump on the train tracks then he also went back in time...WHY?

2. ... ... ... HOW?

3.He could still have warned himself about the tumour as the doctor said if he had told him earlier then he might have been able to do something...he then waits over 4 months!?!?!?!?

4. This is just a note to say that just because something is convoluted and involves time travel it doesn't mean a writer can ignore it and decide that because people have questions that his film is smart :-)
