I think it's interesting that girls like to buy big boobs as the physical ideal seems to be the size in the movie- a B cup. I didn't see a single C or god forbid D cup in the entire movie. I've noticed this as the case for most films. Why do people want gigantic boobs if this is the aesthetic ideal?? of course i'm speaking from a c/d cup point of view....

actually there were a few at the end of the line in the original audition. Anyway, they were looking for an elegant silhouette, and it is much less shocking to see fried eggs than it is to see melons.
shareI have to say that C and D cups rarely stand up very well on their own. B's are full enough to be satisfying and proportionate, but do ok unsupported for the most part.

Because the media has been feeding women unrealistic images. Most women are B-cups or smaller. Cindy Crawford was a 34B, fer Gossakes, and I never heard anybody complaining. Sharon Stone was a 36B, and so on.
Now, if YOU are a C or D cup, congrats, and my phone # is...just kidding. :)

But I think you should also remember that women have changed shape a bit since the war. While I can't prove it I believe women on average are both taller and heavier than they were. Also, rationing would have made sure the women weren't carrying a lot of extra weight - although perhaps the girls' admirers helped out a bit.
And I agree that perceptions of ideal body shapes have changed over the decades.

shareYes. I have a theory that starting from this year, it is interesting to note just how heavy people have become. There are generally very few slight people now and some babies are born a massive size. Yes, this is due to eating processed foods and having cars and other conveniences, so people don't walk through necessity anymore, but I wonder what affect all those hormones in the Contraceptive pill has contributed?

I may be wrong but I think the women they were auditioning/casting were supposed to be the slender (even starving) type so that might explain the less "curvy" part.
Personally, I think bigger is better but women all have their charms.
