Is it true that Hitler tried to steal lots of religious artifacts?
In the introduction to the movie which is on the DVD they make mention that there really was a spear that was used on christ.
Wasn't he a catholic or something?
Why would he need to collect stuff?
Or was he just plain mad and mental?
Hitler did took a lot of artifacts, religious or not. The Hitler having third of a spear was a kind of inside joke of the movie, seeing as the spear owner has ultimate power, hitler had a third of it.

Hitler did have an interest in the occult and mysticism, he funded many digs and collected objects reputed to have magic power, he even was a member of a secret society (can't remember the name) devoted to finding powerful objects. Basically he wanted any kind of advantage over people and eventually in the war, that he could get.
