R2 DVD

I haven't found a review of the R2 DVD of this (hopefully also for me) great movie.

But before buying it, I would like to know if the image quality is good, subtitles understandable, etc.

Also I wonder if one has to have seen at least some of the work of Ozu, which I unfortunately haven't yet.

Get the R1 instead.
