Any recommendations for similar films

I watched this movie recently after purchasing it a while back, I had been meaning to watch it just kind of wanted to save it.

Anyways no matter, I viewed it and enjoyed it for the most part, but was left wanting more.

I suppose the book would be a good read, as well as any other films or shows done on it.

The music was great, so was the acting, the cinematography and locations were great.

I love movies set in this time period, and was wondering if anyone can make recommendations to similar films, or at least from what I have stated here you may think I would enjoy.

Thank you in advance.

Atonement?
I'm interested to see what films other people suggest because I'd love to discover more films similar to this too.

Indeed Atonement is a good one, I would love to see any other similar suggestions.

Think of all we could learn from it. It's the chance of a lifetime, you must let me have it!

Most of the films directed by James Ivory.

Start with A Room with a View, the best of the lot.

"My will is strong but my won't is weak"

•Bright Young Things - Evelyn Waugh's novel Vile Bodies directed by Stephen Fry
•The new Upstairs Downstairs. Never saw the original, I was too young.
•The Shooting Party

A Room with a View
Maurice
Bright Star (starring Sebastian too)
The original Brideshead Revisited

Btw, it's not actually a movie, but check out The Line of Beauty, starring Julia, set in the Thatcher era, in the 80s, also about class system in England.

Atonement and Glorious 39. Both are great and set in pre-war England in high class society (at least partially), both have powerful dramas, like this film. So, if you loved Brideshead Revisited, there is a big chance you'll love these two films.

The Go Between, though the book is superior. The film is early 70s I think, and stars Alan Bates and Michael Redgrave. Set in early 1900s.

Also, The End of the Affair, the later film version with Ralph Fiennes. It does the whole Catholic guilt thing.

Regarding the "Go-Between," Julie Christie is the female love interest, Edward Fox portrays her fiance' in an arranged marriage, and Alan Bates is the farmer JC's character really loves. The flashback scenes of the film are before 1900, I believe.

There are similar films made on both sides of the Atlantic, and they are the following movies:

"Splendor in the Grass" starring Natalie Wood and Warren Beatty
"This Property Is Condemned" starring Natalie Wood and Robert Redford
"Marjorie Morningstar," starring Natalie Wood and Gene Kelly

"Gosford Park" starring Helen Mirren and Alan Bates

"Green Mansions" starring Anthony Perkins and Audrey Hepburn
"Raintree County" starring Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift, and Eva Marie Saint
"A Place in the Sun," starring Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift, and Shelley Winters.
