Hi there. I've not seen any of the other versions of this story, apart from this film. I watched it only because Matthew Goode was in it and of course he didn't disappoint! It's a really good film in my opinion and really sad when you think about it, but it's definitely worth watching, simple to understand and easy to digest! Try not to place much emphasis on the contradicting religious aspects that this film contain though because they depict an older society, so they may not still be applicable in present day. Apart from this, it's deeply artistic and engaging! Give it a shot!
