The CG in this isn't bad compared to..

Yes I'll admit the CG in this was bad, but its not as bad as the ones used in Python ( 2000 ) thats is horrible.

reply

compare 2000 to 2004 and i suppose the budget for this one was much bigger (maybe i'm wrong however..)

reply

actually...i expected worse, i thought the cg were okay (assuming the budget must have been small)

Yepp, the CGs were really good compared to the Wolves in Day after tomorrow, which presumably had a lot bigger budget... >>8->

reply

I thought the CG was OK, but it's unfair to compare it to the wolves in The Day After Tomorrow. It's just really hard to do fur. Plus, the wolves were supposed to be normal wolves... things we've seen in real life. It's easier to pull off a massive snake because it's fantastic to begin with...

If I may be pedantic for a moment....<G>

You can't tell how old a snake is by "doing tests" on it. The oldest snake on record is a captive Ball Python that lived for 47 years. Nowhere near 150. Snakes just don't live that long. Most species live 20 years or less. The large constrictors live longer, but nowhere near 150 years.

The largest snake ever confirmed was a Reticulated Python captured (not given away by snake worshippers) on the island of Celebes in 1912 which measured 33 1/2 feet and weighed over 400 pounds. The largest snake ever kept in captivity was 'Colossus', also a Reticulated Python, who was a main attraction at the Pitsburgh Zoo for over 20 years. She measured 28 1/2 feet and weighed over 300 pounds. Reticulated Pythons over 25 feet are not rare. The Reticulated Python, by the way, is not found in India, and the native Indian python species is much smaller than the Retic.

The largest snake in the New World, the Anaconda, rarely exceeds 20 feet, and averages around 16 feet. The largest confirmed specimen measured 25 feet 4 inches.

Most reports of gigantic snakes can be explained by the fact that most people tend to grossly overestimate the size of a living snake, and also, a snake's skin, particularly the large constrictors, is extremely elastic. It's quite possible to stretch a fresh skin to over twice the length of the living animal. Travellers see these skins and, not being aware of this, assume that the living snake was the same size.

So yes, there are some big snakes out there, but 60 footers exist only in the movies and the tall tales of Victorian explorers. And 150 year old snakes exist only in myths and legends.

you must know about snakes or be asnake

Now, how could I type if I was a snake? LOL!

But I've been keeping and breeding them since I was 10.

"Alright Mr. Jackson, so there are these snakes and they're on a plane..."

They were able to in Monsters Inc... 8-)

reply

Well they aren't nearly as bad as the "special effects" (if you can call them that) of A Sound Of Thunder. I repeatedly found myself laughing at the bad digital effects of that movie.

reply

LOL the effects were truly terrible...anyone seen Lake Placid 2?? if you really want to laugh makesure you see it.

reply

The effects in Hammerhead were awful...really really bad. If it hadn't been for the presence of Hunter Tylo...it'd be practically unwatchable..lol.

reply

I don't like how they didn't really show the Python for the first ... 50+ minutes. Sure, they showed the Boa. They didn't really even show the people dying, which would have made it a better movie. Ah well... it was still fairly entertaining.
