*Great* giant snake movie.

IMHO, this is the king of the hill as far as giant snake movies go. Okay, damning by faint praise. But it's unique as far as I know in that it's obvious this movie had the involvement of people who like and are actually knowledgeable about snakes. The snakes are not one-dimensional generic monsters. They're snakes! That alone puts it ahead of most of the pack.

It's got decent humour, decent action, and great effects for a low-budget B movie. Plus, it's got David Hewlett. How can you go wrong? I was pretty down on this the first time I saw it out of pure negative bias ("aw, another awful giant snake movie"), but it managed to keep me from walking away half-way -- no mean feat for a bad movie -- and with repeat viewings I came to realise it's actually a great B movie. If you can appreciate the style, it's worth a view.

Anaconda was better

Ghaa, now I have to watch Anaconda again so I can properly tell you how wrong you are. For now, chew on this: How can Anaconda be better when Boa vs. Python has infinitely more David Hewlett?

1. Anaconda. The best by lightyears. My least favorite part was the CGI snake on Owen Wilson- that shot almost ruins the whole movie.
2. Anacondas - atleast it was in theaters, and I love the jungle setting (took place in "borneo", but filmed in Fiji? yet should have been the Amazon!)
3. Boa vs Python - One of the best Sci-Fi channel pieces of crap ever made
4. Python- It was OKish. It had Casper van Dien and Jenny Mccarthy!
5. Komodo vs Cobra - Lamest acting but atleast it wasn't boring?
(you know it must suck if it's below KVC)
6. Python 2 - i don't remember it that well, but what I do remember is that it definitely sucked!
7. Snake King - Perhaps the worst special effects of all on this list.
8. King Cobra - I was very disappointed with this one, but the neat ending is all that saved it from being last on my list.
9. Boa - more like boa-ring

any more?

I'm just extremely glad that others on the Internet recognize the power of David Hewlett.
