what is the most disturbing movie out there?

i just ordered this movie and waiting to see it.i collect some wild stuff and lots of sick and twisted films.does anyone know what is the sickest movie out there that i can get my hands on or maybe someone can give me some ideas of films to check out?

reply

carlos - I, too, have seen many sick and twisted films, but IMHO, the sickest of them all was "Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom". I almost lost my lunch after watching this film - and it takes a massive amount of sickness to make me ill!!! I don't know how you feel about foreign flicks, but if you don't mind listening to Italian, German or French, then check it out! It's bound to make you think twice about stuff!

The most messed up one I've seen recently was "Philosophy Of A Knife" last year, factor in a running time of more than 4 hours and you've got yourself a whole evening of sickness. I put together a review for it on my site below.

I still think Mordum is the sickest film I've seen. You should peep this flicks too though, if you haven't already.

SNUFF 102
Psycho: The Snuff Reels (Beware of Optical Fogging though!)
Aftermath - Pretty sweet looking corpses

I thought Salo was pretty overrated and boring. Doesn't rank very high on my sick scale either. The book is pretty good though, contains A LOT more stuff that isn't in the movie...but should have been.

Anyone watched Toe Tag's latest offering,"The Murder Collection Volume 1"? After the Redsin Tower (which was still decent enough) it's good to see them get back to the style they do best.

Salo was ok but the novel it took it's inspiration from was 100 times more revolting because most of it is unfilmable or at least it would get everyone behind bars for a very long time. The novel was 120 Days Of Sodom by the infamous Marques De Sade and for a 300 year old book, it's still very shocking. For example there's a whole series of scat stories in one section and it makes 2 Girls, 1 Cup look like a tea party. I mean at one point there's a story where this woman talks about when she took over a brothel (after murdering her boss) and she took a 13 year old virgin and set her up with a client who took a crap insider her private area which broke the hymen and he then had sex with her right after. That's just plain sick, I never made it past that section of stories but it only gets nastier.

I've seen Philosophy Of A Knife but I never finished it. It was a very interesting subject but they didn't know how to make a good documentary. The narrator is just the director and he has no charisma and dryly reads history and talks to people who were there. The reenactments also look bad because they're just using college students to play Chinese civilians who in real life weren't far from looking like the prisoners of the Holocaust. So these people are in good shape and they also are all groomed and have shaved pubes which also takes away from the authenticity and the reenactments of the experiments just didn't look realistic and felt cheap. So it's just 4 hours of this and it never does anything to keep the viewer interesting in a story of one of the most horrific war crimes in history.

On topic, I'd say Mordum is the nastiest movie I've ever seen and when I was a teenager I really did hunt down these kinds of movies and left no stone unturned. I've seen stuff like car crash videos, autopsies, and even sick internet videos of actual self mutilation and tribal cannibalism. But in terms of fiction, Mordum really takes the cake. It was the hardest hitting August Underground movie by far, but then Penance really does more to make you understand the characters and to see their very downfall so it has more emotional effects and does hit hard in that way. But really, so many horror movies are so over the top and often times very fake looking. You can't compare it to these 3 movies that were made to look like the real deal.

All Night Long 2: Atrocity is a pretty sick film. Its foreign but it is definetly extreme. Actually has a pretty good plot to boot.

This is a pretty good message board for real gore and tragedy. It's also a fairly good entrance into the rabbit hole. Try not to look too deep though, some things just can't be unseen.

reply

The rabbit hole has already been entered.

People before me have already mentioned some good ones. Here's a few more:

THE GATEWAY MEAT
This movie isn't listed on imdb, but it's brutal as hell - graphic, gory and meanspirited. It's directed by Ron DeCaro and forms a trilogy of sorts called "The Brightside Trilogy" (along with the short films EATING RAZORS and THE WHITE LIE). The gore FX were done by Aaron and Ben LaBonte, who did the FX for the first AUGUST UNDERGROUND film. DeCaro's new film YARD SALE looks promising too.

The link above also includes a trailer for the film

MUZAN-E
One of the vilest of the Japanese "pinku eiga" genre, directed by Daisuke Yamanouchi. You can find a copy of this if you look hard enough, but as far as I know, it's never been released with English subtitles. You could also check out his RED ROOM 1 and 2 films, which are readily available in the US from Unearthed Films.

Check out MARTYRS 2008. Also AFTERMATH 1994. It's now bundled with 2 other of Nacho Cerda films. One called GENESIS. Which is a sad love story. And the other one,I forget its name. But I didn't like it. It takes place in a classroom and was boring. I did burn Aftermath and Genesis though. I had to have them for my permanent collection.

personally i think the worst mentioned so far is a serbian film, i never finished watching it and subsquently deleted it off my pc I would like to finish it, but when i got up to the baby scene it got too much. However i may say it does actually have a quite good story line and some pretty decent acting. IMO Salo is overated its just quite sexually explicit, its not particularly gory or pushes any boundaires its just not a very nice film to watch with all the *beep* eating, i wouldnt call it shocking though, defiently for shocks id go for a sebian film
