Michael Wincott in this film, 'Animal'?

The listing for this film appeared on June 10, listing Michael Wincott in the role of "Iparrak", the lead villain. It remained this way until around June 25 or so. Then Michael's name disappeared.

Anyone got a clue what happened here? Filming began on April 26 in Lisbon, Portugal (The film is still actively in production). If Michael was replaced, it was nearly halfway through the shoot! That can happen, but it is rare because of the expense of having to re-film so much of the movie at that point. It appears he was replaced by Portugese actor, Diogo Infante.

There are several references to Michael Wincott being cast in this film, even on the StudioCanal home page. So it was not my imagination...however, here on IMDB, his connection with this film has literally disappeared into thin air.

Anyone out there know anymore than this?

Hi
You probably already have an answer to your question by now. I was involved on this film and know that MW was fired for ''bad behaviour'' and replaced by Diogo Infante, who was originally playing a smaller role. Everyone felt Diogo turned in a fine performance, with complete professionalism.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Clifforddespenser. I don't check this site too often, as my only real interest in the film was Wincott's role.

I'd very much like any more info you might have about what went on with the firing. (It's a great mystery to Wincott fans in the US.) There was absolutely nothing about it I could find online.

The website "michaelwincott.org" does have a single photo from the filming, showing WIncott in costume with his stunt double, plus some messages on their boards from Portugese hotel staff saying "they were sorry he had to leave so abruptly" and "sorry about the unfortunate incident".

It's possible that your info is not appropriate for this message board. If so, please contact via private message board here OR at the following address;

I'd greatly appreciate anything you could share with me.

(BTW: no slam against Mr. Infante -- I am sure he's a fine actor and did a fine job.)
