annasophia in samantha

i was just wondering did she have long hair and they dyed it or is it a wig?
And in the scene with nellie and samantha and samantha telles nellie her mom and dad died in an accident, it sounds like nellie says ma and da. Ive heard of people saying Ma but never Da, but im pretty sure its irish...is it?

Kelsey Lewis's acting is horrible. It's actualy supposed to be Mam and Dad. She doesn't talk well, Kelsey Lewis, I mean.

reply

Actaully they used to call them ma and da in ireland so she's saying it correctly.

reply

Well, if you look at the book, smartypants, Nellie calls her mom MAM!! And her dad DAD!! Look at the book "Samantha Learns a Lesson" on page 11, the first paragraph:

".....Dad will be her driver. He'll take care of the horses and the garden. Mam will cook and clean and do laundry. And Bridget and Jenny and I will help......"

-Nellie in Samantha Learns a Lesson page 11 first paragraph)

reply

Yeh well I'm Irish so I think I would know! Maybe it says Mam and Dad in the books because the author was american and she didn't know what they used to call their parents.
Watch the film "Evelyn" with Pierce Brosnan and you'll see that they did call their parents "Ma" and "Da".
(I think their is even a film called "Da" about an Irish man and his father!!!

Don't think so. This script is NOT the right piece of paper to look at. The book IS the RIGHT place to look at. The movie and the script is NOT even a piece of paper for information. YOU LLLLLOOOVVVEEEEEE American Girl things. I'm SURE you have the Samantha books, SO READ THEM!!!!!!

reply

Har dee har har, yardleys, I'M IRISH TOO!!!

reply

Well then you should know! Watch the film Evelyn and leanr how to speak your own language.

reply

For your information, yard keys, I'm HALF Irish. And watching that stupid film is the last thing I want to do. And may I ask what "leanr" means? And I'm also Armenian, and a few Armenian people, like me, are stubborn. And I'll keep on bugging you until 2199. Would you like that, huh? Well then shut up.

Plus if you were actually irish, wouldn't you have said so before?!

For those who claim Kelsey's acting was "horrible" there's no need to be mean, Kelsey was only 9 years old and in her first major role, I think she did a pretty good job. As for the Ma and Da debate, yes the girls were American but having an Irish father is it not likely they would pick up some Irish expressions from him? and is it not possible that some errors in terminology in the book were corrected for the movie. This movie has just jumped to the top of my favorites list.

reply

It's a bit unfair to call Kelsey's acting horrible, she was after all only 8 years old and in her first major roll, I think she did a pretty good job.

reply

And for exactly how long have you lived in the British Isles, welshtreble?

reply

You people are silly. It's just one line of one movie. No wonder there's so much fighting in Ireland.

reply

[deleted]

You guys you just don't understand.

YOu know your just argueing over something pointless. Who CARES if Kelsey says Da and Ma.

The director probably wanted her to do that.

so Shut the Hel* up!

Thank you,
Natasha

reply

What has AMERICAN girls got to do with ireland. Nellie is AMERICAN not irish so she shouldn't say ma and da but who cares if she does.

I know really! Just because she says ma and da in the movie, it was best because she was told to. If they wanted her to say something else then they would have had her to tell her something else!

(Anyone got screen captures?)

and also i think she did a great job, so I don't know why people are saying she is bad.

reply

In Ireland they prnounce dad, da get it? Nellie is Irish.

reply

They dyed her hair. Not a wig.

What comes before part b? PARTAYY!

reply

Her hair was dyed, and a wig. It's in the American Girl store in Chicago as "the wig Samantha wore during the filming of Samantha: An American Girl Holiday"

she looks so beautiful here.
and stop it about the accent stuff. for those who are american or isn't american which aren't irish in anyway stop trying to question or correct how irish people say mum or dad in the 1900s. the DIRECTOR probably wanted the kids to say that!

reply

she did a great job in this movie.
