The show failed mostly because its 2005 and the show was way behind the times. It seemed like something you’d see in the 70’s or 80’s but not today. It simply couldn’t compete with today’s modern programming especially with the time slot it was given, it had to go head to head with some top programming on other networks and couldn’t measure up. The reason it couldn’t measure up was of course because the cast and crew for the most part didn’t really give a *beep* about it. Sketches seemed like they were thrown together in minutes. And many of the Actors seemed as though they were going through the motions. With a name like “the sketch show” it’s obvious that not many people were trying to hard to make it work. The simplistic and lazy name alone should tell you something about how much those behind it really cared about the show.

Good analysis.

hey, genius, do some research.
the u.s. version was named "the sketch show" because it was adapted from the u.k. program, "the sketch show"...
smarten up before you offer your expert analysis...

I loved this show, but sadly I knew it wouldn't last. It's the sort of random, quick humor that's over most people's heads.

reply

Over most people's head?! Two guys wearing armour walk up to a counter and request a room for two (k)nights! How the hell is stuff like that going to go over peoples heads?! The show wasn't funny because the jokes were too simplistic. THey were the kind of jokes that 6 year olds would tell each other at recess and then think they were bloody geniuses for simply repeating them.

Just some corrections.

The show is NOT cancled as of yet (4/27/05). Fox has put the show on hiatus and it is to be determined if the show will return.

There are two episodes unaired, plus the pilot, making three shows not yet seen.

The reason Fox has not cancled the show yet is becuase they did have some positive ratings becuase of the fact Kelsey Grammer is in it.

Also, it was a mid-season show to replace another that completely bombed.

Fox did not expect the show to take off at first, becuase they didn't pump a lot of money into it. They just need something to fill the slot.

Fox did indeed have enough ratings though to consider another season. However, new writers would be intorduced. Even Kelsey said that himself.

The show would also most likely be moved to another slot, becuase it a few weeks they will run 'Family Guy' and 'American Dad' in the 9:00 and 9:30 slots.

But as of now, it is on hiatus, and is being considered for another season.

Maybe Fox should try putting this show on the same night as American Idol.

I agree that most of the jokes are something a six year old would come up with but the fact it had Kelsey Grammer was what kept me watching for like two whole episodes. The one other person who did anything remotely funny was that othe rbritish guy. I liked the half a chicken sketch.

Same thing we do every night try to take over the world
