Why did Marco replace Gordon?

Also anyone know anything about their bust up ie what it was about?

reply

Marco didn't really replace Gordon, in fact, Gary Rhodes, & Jean-Christophe Novelli were the 1's who replaced Mr. Ramsay. While Marco Pierre White in S3, replaced the 2 chefs from S2.

I think what they're doing is they have different chefs for different seasons, however Jean-Christophe was supposed to be the main chef in this current series, but was being called off.

Allegedly Gordon was sickened by the first batch of celebrities who were paid hefty fees and then refused to work. He was also dispirited by the voting which seemed to be about personality rather than skill (remember Edwina Currie being kept in to annoy GR?). He apparently refused to make another celebrity HK but took the format to the US, revamped it for contestants who wanted to cook, took control of the sackings and put more emphasis on the cooking skills.

Not sure if he still owns the rights to the UK version.

The first series was first offered to Marco but he turned it down because it wasn’t the right time in his life. So Gordon was hired. Then Gordon Ramsey signed a deal with channel 4 which prevents him doing any shows for itv1
