Anthony Hopkins' Most Underrated Movie?

Who else thinks this one of Anthony Hopkins' more underrated films? Both film wise and performance wise. Sure, he isn't Hannibal Lector in this, but he still knocked it pretty far out of the park.

I remember people by their signature, not their profile name.

Yes, he is excellent, but it deals with motorcycles, which is fringe culture.

Most people (at least in the US) don't know motorcycles and have no ideas how challenging it is to keep a motorcycle stable at high speed, also have no ideas how exhilerating it is to ride at high speed.

Hopkins was in better movies, including Silence Of The Lambs and Hamlet, but this is probably his most underrated movie.

Agreed with OP. this film seems to float under the radar.

in fact, i just re-watched this a few moments ago now and it's still as great as ever. it's my 2nd favorite film of 2005 behind 'Lord of War' which is one of my top top films out of the 1400-1450+ films i have seen.

but basically there is only around 80 films that i gave a 9/10 or 10/10 to out of the 1400-1450+ films i have seen to date and this is one of them.

i would probably say this is Hopkins BEST film as the only other one even close is... The Silence of The Lambs.

also have no ideas how exhilerating it is to ride at high speed.

i sure do ;)

but then again anyone who likes adrenaline knows motorcycles are much better than cars overall especially considering it's pretty hard to get a car to the same performance levels of a decent crotch rocket and even then the OPENNESS of a bike further amps up the adrenaline because your out in the open as opposed to closed in with a car.

but just driving a motorcycle fast with the acceleration and speed makes you feel ALIVE as it's one of the best feelings in the world.

in fact, i think that's a lot of the reason WHY i get into the film as it gets your adrenaline going to some degree just watching him ride that bike ;)

but even that aside... Hopkins is great as you get into the passion of his character as those of us with a craving for speed know what he's basically feeling.

A real gem.
Excellent acting from Hopkins and the story was stranger than fiction since it was nearly all true.
Quite lovely.
