connection to 4?

Well I didn't have a chance to see part IV, but I realize that there are same characters as in part V. So what's the connection? I mean, they looked in part V as they never seen a zombie before! And they are interested in what's in the container! Didn't they supose to know that??
Could somebody explain that to me, please?

That's an interesting theory. Where do you get your information?

It's quite clear, in fact, in Part 4, that there have been MANY zombie outbreaks over the years.

Part of the continuity problem you're facing, though, may have to do with the fact that the sequence of ROTLD 4 and 5 was reversed. What you saw as 5 was scripted/filmed as part 4 and vice versa. I don't know why they switched them for the release.

Well, I really don't know why you've become so animous about this. All I asked was where you got your information. Because it was, as I stated, interesting. Why are you so defensive?

The comment I made about the switching of the release order is ALSO true, to the best of my ability. I don't know (or care) whether that information is currently reflected on the web site about the film, but I have been reading about these movies for years in Fangoria, on Upcominghorrormovies.com, etc. Until a few months before the release, Rave from the Grave came first, and THEN Necropolis. Now it's changed. That's what I read. Maybe it's wrong, I was just relating the information that I had heard. If it's wrong, I'm sorry, but sometimes people receive faulty information. I wasn't claiming to speak the gospel. Does that anger you or something?

As to the part about previous zombie outbreaks mentioned in part 4, that's pretty evident from the pre-credits sequence in the movie. In fact, they state this quite explicitly.

I shall refrain from calling you names, because that's not the kind of person I am. I will mention, though, that you are very rude. That's not name calling. It's just a statement of fact.

and what about peter coyote's character?
I've read that he escaped with one of the containers at the end of part 4...
and that that was a cliffhanger to 5...
what about that?

I probably also ought to have mentioned that I only saw part 4 when it arrived at my store on DVD. I don't have cable so I didn't see the sci-fi premiere, and I haven't seen part 5 at all. I only came to this site to get some more info on part 5 now that I have watched the fourth one.

they are not playing the same characters!! james karen and thom mathews are the same actors in different roles!!

listen the director's comment on DVD for part II.

the producers wanted them back cos they were so funny in part one, so they wanted them to do the same thing again!

they work in warehouse in part I and they are cemmetary robbers in part II.

reply

He never said they played the same characters. He merely specified that Johnathan Terry (who played the colonel, I believe) portrayed the same character in parts one and two. As opposed to Thom Matthews and James Karen, who played different characters. No need to get bent outta shape!

do you guys like only american zombie movies, or you watch foreign films of the same genre??

reply

I like most any zombie film, my favorite creature by far, close second would be vampire or werewolf hmm i wonder what would happen if a vampire/lycon hybrid <from underworld> inhaled some of the ROTLD gass...yah.. that would be awesome...
but yeah i like foriegn zombs too, undead, dead alive (both involved peter jackson i might add)i think were austrailian/new zeland
i dont really know if "dead and breakfast" was american or not, or if they were "true" zombies, but, they sang and danced to a country/rap song, pretty funny stuff
still havent gotten to see zombie honeymoon tho, oh and any word on rave to the grave for DVD?

How can for be made after 5 when becky is clerly a zombie in 5 but not in 4 that makes zero sense

reply

I can see where you are going with this and would readily accept such an explination if it were not for 2 things...

One: The remaining characters are in their first year of college in 5 as opposed to high-school in 4.

Two: The Uncle is killed in the beginning of 5 after delivering the two canisters he made off with at the end of four.

While two is an easy edit or addition to give some consistancy in continuity, the first point is either a large omission or an even larger screwup.

What are your thoughts on this?

reply

Ah, so you're saying the Uncle should have been a Zombie in Necropolis, because that's the only way it would have worked with his being killed in Rave after having left the facility with the canisters and meeting the mobsters in 5.

It also wrecks havok with his nephew hating him in 4 but being all upset about his murder in 5 because he liked him so much.

...or them being in highschool in 4 vs. first year of college in 5.

Either way you cut it, if you reverse the two movies out side of all that, you still have people being oblivious to zombies after having had a run in with them.

It isn't hard to see these two were a complete continuity screw up and that Necropolis is chronologically first, any argument otherwise entails erasing over half of each film.

Are you guys insane! TARMAN ESCAPED! RUN FOR THE F'IN HILLS!

But ya, the movie shows continuance only in the father's actions, not in the other characters. Still, the actor who played the original Tarman (The Black zombie wwho had his head removed in 1, who said "ahh come on guys, gimme some brains!" to the task force in 2, and who did not appear in 3 and 4. Tarman was the best part of ROTD, and they only gave him 2 cameos in the 1 of the latest 3 movies. ARGH!!!!)
...sorry, Tarman is awesome XD

I suspect that ROTLD 4 and 5 are, in fact, different drafts of the same movie. A movie can change radically from an early draft to a late draft, and maybe that's what happened here. They couldn't decide what movie they liked better so they decided to make BOTH and shoehorned some continuity into the two by including two or three characters that are (ostensibly) in both films.
