If you mean me, no, not yet. Not sure why.

Oh, I know why. I just went to Amazon, and then as now, I was overwhelmed by the number of Return of the Living Dead movies: it appears there are five of them and it even looks like they're loosely linked. I figured I'd want 1-3 if I were to get #4. I'm going to see if I can find them all used for reasonable $$$s. Have you watched #4 yet?

reply

No I haven't watched #4 yet; I still have to get #3~!!! LOL!! I loved the first one and the second one wasn't too bad.......I did laugh at the Michael Jackson look a like on the bridge! You should also try oldies.com and see if they have them cheaper too

Waiting for a response from a vendor who has four of them to see what he'd do @ shipping (since he'd be getting 4 x shipping cost). I should just hit the check out button, but I'm on a budget. Like I won't buy these.

What's funny is that I don't have any of them (these Return of movies). I have 30-some zombie or zombie-themed movies and these managed to slip under the radar. Until now. Maybe.

reply

Hey at least get 1 and 2!!! The first one still have me laughing to this day; the only down side was that Suicide died in real life from leukemia... :( but let me know how it goes!! I'm like you - on a budget. Click on my profile; it will show you places I do get movies from......that might help; like Robocop for #3 with a CD even....

Favorite zombie movies? (Checked out your profile, nice! I'm also a movie collector (have a ways to go before I catch up #wise) and among other things have a weakness for truly awful horror/SF flicks. I have found only a very small # of movies that were so lame/boring they weren't worth watching (except to demonstrate the difference between a "bad" movie and a genuinely unwatchable one -- my level of tolerance for unwatchable pretty much orbital compared to your average Joe's).

I surrendered and hit the buy button. In the time we've been postings messages the copy of #5 I'd selected was grabbed by someone else, so, I figured....

28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead, the Resident Evil movies, Poultrygeist, Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland are my favorite zombie movies (not favorite bad ones). I got Boy Eats Girl and Dance of the Dead not long ago, both were fun. Planet Terror got an OK and Zombie Strippers was on the cusp of bad enough it was fun. Then there are all the rest. Now I'll have another five to endure or enjoy.

Zombie movies that I have include: ALL of the night of the living dead ones, and yes the first one is still classic to me!!! :) Also I have Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things, All but #3 of the Return of the living dead; I did love the remake of Dawn of the Dead; wow could those Zombies run!!!! :)

Have you ever seen The Green Slime??? LOL What a great movie from the 70s; but when you actually watch it as dramatic as it was, you could tell they got Alien and some other space movies from it..

I'll chekc out some of the ones you mentioned that I don't have; I do have 28 days later and 28 weeks later (was lucky enough to get the two pack of that one) but if I can remember any more Zombie movies that I have I will let you know! But you should also check out Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things!

I can't believe that #5 went that fast on you! Hopefully you got it cheap with the next vendor!!

Feh! I received a second copy of #3 today (along with #4), dashing my hopes of continuing down the slippery slope of the Return sequence. I received the 5th first and put it aside. Then the 1st and 3rd arrived, so I watched the 1st (last night) and when I had several packages in the mail this afternoon got all fired up about seeing #2. I just emailed the vendor so I expect I'll get #2 soon and I'll wait on the rest. #3 looks pretty awful (as does #5--but this is just from looking at the cover/back, and we all know that can be misleading). The first one was interesting. I couldn't tell if it was intentionally funny or just old enough not to be scary, although I'm guessing the first. The initial zombie was actually fairly gross. I'm not certain what happened to him but that's partly because I was making shelving to accommodate more DVDs and had to keep an eye on what I was doing to avoid drilling a hole in myself (to the tune of 42 screws). I was surprised by the ending. (No spoilers here.) Otherwise, I felt there were a good number of lost plot points, and while that didn't particularly bother me, I wondered if it were intentional or just sloppy. Maybe I should watch it again and do something that doesn't involve power tools.

reply

Hey thanks for the head's up! Like I said I have 1, 2, and now 5; still debating if I want 3 and 4 now!!! FYI the first one is supposed to be funny as was the second; lol hey hope you didn't drill yourself! Then you could star in Hostel!!!! I truly believe a lot of the points were lost for the first one but then again it was supposed to be a comedy which I still love to watch when I'm having a bad day! :) You just gotta love the boss Burt! LOL! :) The second one was not bad either but not as funny as the first but still not bad at all.

Sometimes what's really bad of me is that I will get all the movies in a collection even though they weren't that great. Maybe I should stop doing that. I have the first Robocop on DVD which of course is still classic, but still have 2 and 3 on VHS; I was not in a hurry to get those.

So did you watch 3 and 4 yet?

Didn't fall off the edge of the world, just got a little tied up (and not with ropes and handcuffs). So, yes, finally, I have seen 1-3. I popped 4 in the player but was too tired at the time to get past the beginning (which had no zombies, just military build-up). My opinion so far: #1, probably meant to be funny, not scary, held up fairly well (as a 1985 film) for what it is; #2, definitely meant to be comedy, enjoyed, thought was goofy; #3 surprised me, it wasn't jokey, they meant to make a zombie horror flick, and I thought the two leads' acting was really good (actually no lousy acting), it had some decently gross moments, all this taking into account that (a) it's a 1993 movie and (b) on a tight budget. I liked the continuity with the military gas screw up.

I'll check out the next two soon. I took a detour for Percy Jackson and the Wolfman (liked them both) and now have lots of work to catch up on.

If anybody is interested in buying ROTLD 3,4, and 5, on dvd...walmart has a 6 movie box set with those, the Sid Haig crap NOTLD remake, bride of re-animator and beyond re-animator all for 5 bucks on two single sided discs. The quality of the movies is acceptable for the price and if you don't want to spend too much this is the best way to go.
