Movies are fake, people. Even in this film, these people only met each other a few days before filming their sex scenes. A narrative film is full of tricks and deceptions and illusions in order to construct an experience for a viewer. No matter what, it's always fake. That's the nature of movies.
Whether you call this "porn" or not is irrelevant. The fact is that real sex was entirely unnecessary for the narrative of this film. The same story could be told with the same level of effectiveness without the two leads actually having intercourse. It doesn't need to be real because it's a movie; it's not real no matter what. There's no substitute for powerful directing and convincing performances, even if the actions are "real."
It may be "mature" or "thought-provoking," but I find the film's use of real sex indefensible.
