Why is Raiden playable in 'Deception?!'

Does anyone know for what reason Raiden became a playable character?

The game intro clearly states & shows he sacrificed himself and (unwillingly?) took out Shang Tsung and Quan Chi with him. Now, I like Raiden and all, but just why did they didn't "kill him off" along with 70% of the characters of the previous MK game? You don't see Tsung and Quan Chi as playable characters.

I'm sorry if I don't know, but I feel with all the fascinating, bizarre ways of how old and new guys made it to 'Deception,' I never really heard of a solid, tangible explanation as to why they made Raiden be in this edition - if there EVER was one.

Could someone please help me out?

Rayden is a god. He can't die. Also, keep in mind that his true form is not that of a man. He only takes human form in order to interact with humans and fight his enemies. He is in fact the embodiment of the thunder and lightning elements. He simply unleashed his "godly essence" as they call it, or his elemental energy if you will, in order to create a massive explosion in a desperate attempt to destroy Onaga. After the blast, his essence reforms, once again making him whole. He just takes human form again and voila, he is a playable character.

But TG why is both Quan Chi and Shang Tsung in the game and you fight them both if raiden killed them?...also why is Jax, kitana, frost, sonya, johnny cage, and many others just walking around in conquest and some you fight others you get missions from..but you cant play as them..what gives?!

You have to keep in mind that everything that happens in Konquest mode takes place before the opening video where Rayden, Quan Chi, and Shang Tsung are fighting Onaga. You have to think of that video as the ending to Konquest.

Finally, all the MK characters are thrown into the Konquest mode just for the hell of it. There is no explanation, for example, as to why you can meet and fight Johnny Cage while he is walking around in Outworld. Or Sonya in Chaosrealm. Again, they are just there for the sake of including every character. There is no logical explanation for it.

what are you saying? you don't want to play as Raiden? you definitely need a Catscan or something 'cause WTF?

Using AR MAX, you can change Baraka or Scorpion to one an ycharacter. Doubt they have their moves though.

Originally he wasn't gonna be playable in this and Fujin would have been in his place, but due to fan complaints they decided to put him in.
