When is this coming out ?

Anyone know any release dates on this film? Is gonna screen in theatres or is going to be released on video/dvd. I know it's a new film but the info about is very limited. Was a contender at the Cannes film festival. Seems like a very interesting film. Just curious of when it's coming out. Thanks

Hey there....good to see someone else wants to see this. My cousin saw it at Cannes and said it was brilliant, but was very unpopular because of its anti-American overtones (apparentely Tarantino hated it). It was originally made as a 10-hr monument and cut down to a paltry 3 hours. I have been searching all over the web and I recently e-mailed the producer's company in France and asked if it will ever be released in America, but I haven't got a response yet. I will post here if I find anything.

Yeah, this is out now :) avail. on amazon etc. at least :)

Just some adlib on your comment about Mondovino having some anti-American overtones, and that's why it was very unpopular. I'm sure it's true. But don't you think it's funny that at the very same film festival they screened Fahrenheit 9/11 who got a 30 minute standing ovation, and Fahrenheit 9/11 wasn't anti-American :) ?

Actually I just found out 5 min after I posted my last message. THINKfilm has picked up North American distribution rights and will play in the North American film festivals and be released in early 2005. They are cutting 20-30 min from the Cannes version so the one we see will be 135 min instead of 166. THINKfilm also released "Story of the Weeping Camel" & "The Agronomist" this year so at least we know it will not get caught up in a Miramax-ish distribution hell and will DEFINITELY get a release. THINKfilm will also be releasing the original 10-hour miniseries that the feature is crafted from just in case you need more wine. Should be great. I am def looking foward to this.

I just saw the 135 minutes version and it is good, though it should have been just under two hours to be really great! Check out my review here:

I just heard an interview with this film-maker on public radio and tried to order the film through Netflix--they don't have it. Neither does my locally-owned video store that seems to get everything first. Ideas where the film is in the process of distribution?

It's out on DVD now. Should be available from Netflix, or any small, independent, locally-owned video store with its own savoir-vivre and "terroir." :-)
