I would be very interested if there is anyone that has invested in this film at all, there dosen't seem to be a lot of cast in this, if anyone has more info on this, please reply via this message board.

I'm interested too, if for the only reason that it stars the extremely under-rated Bruce Payne.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!

reply

I could NOT agree more! Bruce Payne is one of the most under-rated actors in the biz... Plus, someone should try putting this master thespian in other roles than the bad guy!! This guy can do anything....

reply

tjchildsfilms, you are SO right! As we state on our site we are dedicated to the proposition that Bruce Payne is one of the world's most talented actors! And we sure think he is! His versatility knows no limits. We have watched him do it all - villain, good guy/ hero, comedy. No one can play being bad as good as Bruce and as much as we like him in villain roles, we think he's perfect for "hero" roles as well. In fact, we have an essay, The Return of the Hero, why we think Bruce Payne is right for hero roles." Of course we also showcase him as villain and comedic actor too! http://www.brucesangels.com/hero.htm

So do you know what has happened with this film?

Is it finished at least?

Disclaimer: I'm not an investor, and I'm not in contact with anyone at Grosvenor Films. I'm just an interested member of the public.

I rang the number on the (now very outdated) Grosvenor Films web site (www.grosvenorfilms.com -- 0207 288 2464) a couple of weeks ago. I was greeted by the words 'Albion Films' rather than Grosvenor Films, though the lady at the end said that Grosvenor Films operated from the same office.

I asked if she had any information about the release of Messages and I was told (after she consulted someone else) that there was at the moment no planned release, cinema or otherwise. I am not sure if this is the official position or not; I am, however, no longer holding my breath.

Incidentally, Albion Films has a web site promoting a different film (Carmen's Kiss), but it is very similar in content to that of Grosvenor Films/Messages:

I am an investor and have just received an update from Grosvenor Films via e-mail. The planned UK release date is now April or May 2007.

By the way, the reason that you got through to Albion Films would be that the current film production (Carmen's Kiss) would need to be funded by a seperate company so that investors in one film are not cross subsidising the other but as it is most likely that the same people are working on both projects, it makes sense to use the same offices.

Thank you. That is interesting.

Do you happen to know if that's a theatrical release, and if so, in how many cinemas?

reply

They are planning a theatrical release but how many cinemas is anyone's guess. If I learn any more, I'll post it here.

We are very interested to hear that there is a planned release date for this film. The many Bruce Payne fans around the world will be looking forward to any new movie that he is in. We have announced this information on the Bruce's Angels fan site. Please keep us informed!

Are there any investors who have seen a cut of the film?

The film will be released in June. A London, West End cinema has signed up to show the film for a two week run and the UK distributor is presumably busy signing up other cinemas around the UK. Apparently the UK DVD release won't be many months behind (which seems to be the norm nowadays).

Reviewed in the Telegraph Today:

"Quite the worst supernatural thriller ever made starring Jeff Fahey. This is saying something"

Plus it stars J P "Eldorado" Gates or Morey or whatever else he calls himself.

Presume it must be released shortly.

Well its out on DVD now and the job the PR company did on this film is an absolute p#ss#ng disgrace. Competitions for the worst review, of all things. And they got paid for that I suppose? ffs

Did the investors get their moneys worth, I'd like to know. I truly hope they did. The producers are such shysters.

Can you expand on your posting a little more, please, Fuzzy Green?
What PR was done, and what was that about competitions for the worst review?
A private message would be fine, if you don't want to post further info on here.
Thanks.

Same here, I totally love Bruce Payne. IMHO he's a great actor.

There's a DVDrip bootleg already floating around the internet :/

Yep. I just watched it. A supernatural thriller with an ending that I haven't figured out yet.
Not bad - but not that good either IMO.
