A movie as a painting

The first Hellboy had a solid plot but it looked like a standard action/comic book look to it.

The Golden Army had the concept of a great story with lackluster execution. I still get pulled into watching when it is on tv. It is a very visually beautiful and creative looking film. All of the creatures in the elvish world were imaginative and unique. The king's guards had a bit of anime quality with the large helmets and swords. Death was just awesome looking, especially with the eyes on the wings. The forest god was very unique especially with the way it 'bled' and died. The prince and princess were excellent characters though a little under used.
