Hellboy II sucks balls. I enjoyed the first one; the second one just felt like a poorly amplified version of the first, and it didn't work in the film's favor.
shareI agree, I loved it. Don't know how I missed seeing this until 2019, I watch so many movies. Definitely better than a lot of the action hero movies. If every movie I watched was this entertaining I'd be a happy camper.

Don't ask me to choose between this and my favorite Marvel movies! Just let me be grateful that movies that totally match my idea of fun are being made!
I want to agree, especially since I'm not that big a fan of Marvel and DC. I like things about them, but it's overwhelming with all this similar product out there. Anytime a whole bunch of people are going in one direction, I tend to want to go in another.
But Hellboy? I'm not sure. It seems like cheeky fun, and I like the way Perlman plays the role, but when I saw the first one, it seemed to somehow lack a soul. I have The Golden Army on right now, and it seems a little better, but I would leave it to people who have watched them more closely to give their assessments. Loved Pan's Labyrinth, but some of Hellboy seems a bit excessive.
It feels more imaginative than a lot of recent superhero movies.
