what does the 1% mean???

if anyone could clarify.....cheers

It is a biker gang term. The theory among bikers is that 99% of the motorcycle riders are law abiding citizens, while the other 1% are outlaws.

I thought it had something to do with once you killed someone, you get a 1% patch..

thecracksmuggler has it right, some one once said that only 1% of bikers are outlaws, and now any one in an outlaw biker gang displays their 1% patch or tattoo proudly.

back in the 1950's it was a term used to describe trouble makers...and the hard core bikers took it as a compliment ...99% of motorcycle riders are fine upstanding citizens but there's always that 1% that cause trouble
