Suicidal (spoilers)

Why doesn't Nancy just kill herself? Why does someone else have to kill her?

Any ideas?

prolly too weak? ppl who were molested during childhood grow up to be weaker than others, hurting themselves is a sign of weakness but can't get the whole way on their own.

Since she like having pain inflicted on her, I suppose she thought that being murdered would be the "ultimate pain." She could have walked around blindfolded and barefoot on her own in a roomfull of mousetraps - if she'd had the idea - but she wanted "surprise" pain, it seems; more torturous, after all. And remember Louis saying "I thought you didn't want to know when it (death) was coming?" Don't know why she changed her mind, unless she decided that fearful anticipation would add to the experience.

The writers spend a lot of time having her refer to death as release, though - *not* as the highest level of pain - so that muddied the issue for me.Since she like having pain inflicted on her, I suppose she thought that being murdered would be the "ultimate pain."
