Charlotte's Wig

I didn't really understand the significance of Charlotte wearing a wig. Her regular hair looked very normal after the wig was pulled off. Was it just that the wig allowed her to cover up half her face? Can anyone help?

reply

She probably pulled her hair out. Some people with obsessive compulsive disorder do that.

Every one in that Room had an OCD and hers was that she pulled her hair. If you noticed all throught out the movie she was pulling on the wig when she was uneasy.

yes there was a scene where she was sitting alone in a car and she reaches around to the back of her head and pulles out her hair. of course, this was before we knew she wore a wig

did the hair really look natural??? she was half bald!!

And, of course, she pulls out her hair in even numbers.

That wasn't her hair she wasn't and wrapped in a towel?

Yes, the bottom of her hair looked normal. But the top of her head looked like a chemo patient's. So when she was wearing a towel, we as the audience couldn't really tell that there as anything wrong with her hair because the bottom part was fine. It was just the top that was balding. I find it hard to believe that you could possibly enjoy this movie without noticing the "small" things like this.

Should have titled this..."Spoiler", so people could make a choice!

Obviously she was balding on the top of her head due to her pulling her own hair out in strands, as we see her do in the car while waiting for Mark in one scene. it's called trichotillomania.
