rating? sexual content/violence?

Hi, this doesn't look like a very active board but I'm hoping somebody can help me out with this question, especially someone in the US. My French teacher really wants to show this film in class but is worried about content. She's already seen it but it might be hard to show it in class without specifics. So I know it's unrated here but can anybody give me a prediction of about what rating it would get or at least let me know how much sexual content or violence it contains? Do you think it is appropriate for school? [She also told us that the French are more worried about violence in movies and not quite as much about nudity so ratings in different countries could differ.] Showing us these films is a way to expose us to the culture and hear other people speak French fluently and in context so if anyone has any other suggestions for appropriate films as well I would apprieciate it. Thanks for your help!

what is a the age group of the intended audience?

i've just seen it and there's a few vulgarities. hardly any nudity other than a 3 second scene of a topless woman shrouded in the shadows. fight scenes are just pub brawls and fist fights.

15-17; yeah that sounds like we could show it in school then, thanks

Anyone?

reply

This movie is actually rated "Tous publics" (= General audiences)

In the US? I took it that's where the OP is talking about. I can't see why it would be unrated.

reply

In the US, ratings are optional and a movie is not rated by the MPAA when it has not been submitted for rating, or when its rating is pending.

There are plenty of NR movies, although most request a rating since it's easier to get the movie to be shown in a theater.

Probably the distributor thought this issue was irrelevant for this movie...
