This excellent film is a remake of 'Fingers' (1978)
Fingers, which I now want to see, was directed by James Tolback, and it is listed in the closing credits of "De battre mon coeur..."

I was surprised to find only one thread with just one post (on a board with 6 pages) discussing the original! Usually people love to compare originals and remakes. So why not with this one? I myself only just saw 'Fingers' - and didn't like it, but 'De battre...' has some good critics, so I was interested to read some comparisons
