I think it borrows most from The Ring (2002)... you've got the world of Samara/Sadako, sheep instead of horses, possession which is from the original Ringu films and The Ring 2, I got so much Ring from The Dark it boggles the mind, but ya I can see what you mean, sure.

I call it a cross between John Ajvide Lindqvist's book Harbour (for those who don't know that book is about a father trying to find his daughter who disappeared when they went up to the Domaro lighthouse, he uncovers mysteries and encounters evil ghosts. There really is not much difference in plot) and The Orphanage (The grieving scenes with Sean Bean and Maria Bello).
