My take on the film - Spoilers!

I've watched this movie numerous times. While I don't think this is the best movie ever, I did find it decent and interesting. It actually took me a few runs to finally get what I think is going on there eventually.
I apologize in advance if any of the following issues had already been adressed.
Here goes-

First off, for a long time I thought Sarah is being possessed by Ebrill in the end, or rather, both their souls share Sarah's body because they both want Sarah's dad. Now I actually think that in the end of the movie, Sarah is 100% Sarah, but she's being possessed by "the Dark" that possessed Ebrill everytime she got back from Annewyn.
The thing is, this movie is all about "the Dark" in all of the characters but James. Sarah, who was depressed and filled with resentment towards her mother, had her darkness within. Notice how in the begninning of the movie, all these sheeps jumped to their death while being around Sarah- I'm guessing that was supposed to be some kind of foreshadowing of her "Dark" which in a way already existed in her. The mother, Adelle, also had her darkness. She was selfish, resentful, even mildly violent towards her daughter. Adelle despretaly wanted her "Dark" to leave her head, as we learn with the dialogue between her and Ebrill while in the torture chair in Annewyn.
Ebrill wasn't totally evil, just as Sarah wasn't. I think that she was genuine when she tearfully said "I didn't mean to hurt anyone" and agreed to get back to Annewyn. But James inteferred, saying "I'll be your father, I'll take care of you", prompting Ebrill to turn back and have her dreams come true. Besides of Dave, James seems to be the only charecter not tainted with any kind of darkness, and so it makes since that both Sarah and Ebrill (and Adelle) want to be around him. And then Adelle grabs Ebrill and jumps with her, so Ebrill is like "screw you, you took my new and cool daddy away from me. You'll be sorry now, no normal Sarah for you".
Now here's a key thing I missed in my first viewings- Dave tells us that he unlocked the door to Ebrill's room, thereby unleashing the darkness within her, causing her to kill her own father, the sheperd. In Annewyn, Adelle did the very same thing. She unlocked the door (using the same key) to what used to be Ebrill's room and now was used as Sarah's prison, thereby unleashing Sarah's full blown darkness. That was the significance of the key and the unlocking scene shown twice with both girls. Now, I don't know if the "Darkned" Sarah would become an official sheep slayer, but I guess just the mere fact that she's all like "yay, mom's out of the way, daddy's all mine" reflects that darkness.In the end, you could say Ebrill lost and Sarah won. In a dark way (;

LOL

I just posted my own (too-long) interpretation of the ending, saying pretty much
the same thing you did - except I didn't see your post until after I posted mine.

But yeah - I think you hit the nail on the head. 
