Should Cillian have won the Gloden Globe?

In my opinion yes because he did a really good job, but then again im not sure who he was up against.

He should have won some award for his performance in this, he was quite simply superb. This film is hilarious in parts as well.

The nominees were:

Joaquin Phoenix for Walk the Line (winner)
Cillian Murphy for Breakfast on Pluto
Johnny Depp for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Pierce Brosnan for The Matador
Nathan Lane for The Producers
Jeff Daniels for The Squid and the Whale

All the nominees are great actors with the exception of Brosnan. In my opinion Cillian Murphy should have won, unfortunately the movie wasn't famous enough to give Murphy the award.

No, I'm a massive fan of Cillian but I think his performance in BOP lacked depth.

From an actors stand point...I can always CLEARLY see the choices and goals Cillian is going for (this is a good thing...lol) As far as Kitten goes, I feel like he may have chosen a more guarded route. For example Kitten is very somewhat cautious....which can be read as lack of depth so i see your complaint. But I think Cillian knew exactly what he was doing with this choice....Meh...lol. I know what I'm trying to get across...its just not coming out!

Im a big fan of Cillian Murphy but I think Johnny Depp was better in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Anyway I think Cillian was better than Joaquin Phoenix.

I would have loved to have seen him get an Oscar nomination as he was BRILLIANT in this film. :-)

reply

Yeah, I was really impressed with his acting.

reply

Definately.

~No, but if we did we'd probably deep fry them!

reply

Oh I think Johnny Depp is amazing too... I just personally like Cillian Murphy more! They are both stellar actors, its just a personal preference. :)

Whoa, Johnny Depp was nominated for an award for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? That performance was atrocious. If you do a google search for "bad performances by good actors" you'll have a hard time finding any lists that don't include that film. However, other than Depp's nearly intolerable performance, it was pretty good for an unnecessary and uniformly uninspired remake.

Great performance, but Joaquim Phoenix was on another level. If it wasn't for Walk the Line, I think he should have won it.
