DVD release.

Guys, do you know why this movie isn't still on dvd? It is made in 2005, and now it's 2007 and still I haven't heard anything of a dvdrelease...
Which regrets me, because I'm patiently waiting for this film.
I think it's awesome.

In a way, this is not a commercial film.

from http://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/usa_28192.html

"UNICEF, the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Italian Development Cooperation (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) all helped fund the project"

"Proceeds from the film will benefit the WFP and UNICEF."

I guess it means DVD is not so profittable for DVD publishers.

BTW, the DVD of the movie is to be released in Japan in Feb. 2008. (I'm afraid it has no English subtutles.)
GAGA Communications, the publisher of the Japanese DVD, stated they would donate to WFP 100 yen from the profit of each copy sold, which can provide 8 meals for children in Ruwanda.
Maybe this kind of arrangement is required for DVD release in other countries too. Since Japanese DVD is expensive, they can live with such a little donation and still can make money.
But this is only my guess and I may be completely wrong.

I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of short films. I've just spent the last 30 mins scouring the internet myself hoping to find a dvd release but to no avail.

It's odd though, you have these great directors who have directed some incredible films/blockbusters, you would think that it wouldn't be too much of a big deal for them to release it through one of the buddy distributors. Is it that hard? Am I asking too much? Hell, I could do it if they just gave me one copy!

I bought it yesterday for $1 :)
